General references

Hygiene prevents infections amongst patients and employees. In order to guarantee high medical standards, careful and thorough hygiene in practices, hospitals, etc. is indispensable. Applications of cleaning agents and disinfectants are legally stipulated according to determined time scheme. The goal is the elimination of infection-relevant germs with standardised, quantifiable proof of the effect for prevention of nosocomial infections. A majority of clinical infections is transmitted via the hands. This is why hand infection is one of the most important measures of infections in the clinic and practice. The antiseptic for the hands (based on 2-propanol) prevents the transmission of pathogens.

Disinfectants can only be effective if the required exposure times and concentrations are complied with. Non-compliance with exposure times and concentrations can lead to insufficient disinfection efficiency.
